Who runs this site
Chargers Near Me (chargersnear.me) is operated by Anderson Gomes Ferreira. contato@chargersnear.me
How it works
The list comes from OpenStreetMap. A script collects every element tagged amenity=charging_station from a public Overpass API server, keeps a few tags and publishes the result as static files on this site, refreshed periodically.
When you press the button, your browser reads the few data files around your position from this site and measures the distances on your device. Your location never leaves your device: it is not stored, not put in the address bar and not sent to anyone (details in the Privacy Policy).
A field the volunteers did not fill in is shown as “not listed”. Distances are straight lines, not driving distances. The site cannot tell whether a charger is free, working or open to you right now.
Where the data and rules come from
- OpenStreetMap Wiki: Tag:amenity=charging_station — tags read
- OpenStreetMap Wiki: Key:socket:* — connector types and output
- OpenStreetMap Wiki: Overpass API, public instances — servers used by the collection script
- OpenStreetMap copyright and license (ODbL) — data license and credit
- Nominatim usage policy — place-name search
- OpenFreeMap — base map tiles
How we keep the content up to date
Each page lists the sources it uses and the day we opened them. The data itself is not reviewed by us: it is whatever OpenStreetMap contributors have mapped, and the page says so next to every result.
What this site is not
OpenStreetMap is collaborative, so a charger can be missing, moved, closed or out of date. This site does not know whether a charger is free, working, reachable or open to the public right now. Check the operator's app before you drive there, and fix what you find wrong on OpenStreetMap.
